What is Counselling/Psychotherapy?
Counselling/Therapy provides a safe and confidential space for you to talk to a trained professional about your issues and concerns. The counsellor/therapist will help you explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours so you can develop a better understanding of yourself and of others. They will not give you their opinions or advice or prescribe medication. They will help you find your own solutions – whether that’s making effective changes in your life or finding ways of coping with your problems.
How it works?
I understand that we can struggle to express our thoughts and particularly our inner feelings to others, especially if we fear judgement or being misunderstood. I aim to provide a safe and non-judgemental space to engage and explore. We may focus on the presenting issue and explore what’s causing the distress, we could look at how the past and present influence each other, we may identify patterns, triggers, core believes those have been playing a part. As you explore your thoughts and feelings you can gain greater understanding and awareness. This in turn helps you to respond differently and flexibly to challenging situations, letting go of any unhelpful patterns, entering to a wider range of choices and possibilities. Witnessing my clients change as well as grow in the process of therapy. I strongly believe that therapy can have a profound impact on a person’s life.
